Notice: Proposed Changes To NAMI Tulsa Bylaws

 PROPOSED CHANGES TO NAMI TULSA BYLAWS
 
As of February 5, 2018 the Bylaws Committee appointed by President Amy Holmgren is submitting the following changes to NAMI Tulsa’s Bylaws for input from NAMI Tulsa members and its Board of Directors.  Please send your comments and responses to President Amy Holmgren
amyholmgren@att.net  by April 8, 2018.
 
Delete verbiage in section 2 of ARTICLE 1
Reason: update to agree with NAMI national
 
ARTICLE I 
ORGANIZATION OF THE CORPORATION
 
 Section 2. Membership Eligibility/Definition: The membership of NAMI Tulsa,
Inc. shall consist of who accept the mission of NAMI Tulsa, Inc., NAMI Oklahoma and NAMI
and has paid appropriate annual dues. Membership is on an annual basis from January 1 through December 31. Members joining after September 1st will not pay annual dues the following calendar year.

Added Section 11 to ARTICLE 1 
Reason: NAMI national requirement
 
ARTICLE I 
ORGANIZATION OF THE CORPORATION
 
Section 11. Independent Organization: NAMI Tulsa, Inc. shall be independent of all other agencies and advocacy groups not affiliated with NAMI, and shall not share bylaws, articles of incorporation, or boards of directors with such other group.
 
 
Added Section 9 to ARTICLE 1 
Reason: Needed to add this committee description
 
ARTICLE IV
STANDING/REGULAR COMMITTEES
 
Section 9. Volunteer Committee: This committee shall consist of one (1) board member, who shall be appointed by the president of the Board of Directors subject to the approval of the full board, and other NAMI Tulsa members as needed.  The board member shall be the chairman of the committee.  The responsibilities of the committee shall be to recruit and train all volunteers to include office volunteers, speakers bureau, outreach events, event set up/tear down, staffing NAMI information tables at events and NAMI signature programs

     Today, NAMI Tulsa is heavily focused on education, support groups, public policy, training, and we have developed lasting relationships with many local, state, and national agencies for the betterment of the care of our mentally ill.
