hopetocope.com | Hope To Cope With Anxiety & Depression: Why We Need Failure in Our Lives

by Carol L. Rickard

Failure doesn’t have to be a thing of fear––instead, think of it as a mechanism of learning and personal growth.

Time to come clean… with you and most importantly MYSELF!

My best time to get work done is early in the morning. I am talking 5:00 early in the morning.

Over these past couple weeks, I can’t seem to pull myself out of bed when the alarm goes off.

It’s not like I’m waking up late and missing out being places on time – I get where I need to go.

I am missing out on me time!

And I had an “AH HA” moment this very morning.

You see, I have a project I’ve been working on and what I realized 15 minutes ago is the I am…

AVOIDING

My not being able to get out of bed in the morning is really all about my brain being on autopilot and trying to AVOID…

FAILURE

When I actually started thinking about the whole situation, this thought flew in to my head:

“There is no such thing as failure ONLY learning!”

This is why we need failure in our lives – to help us learn & grow.

So, my hope in sharing this experience with you is two parts:

  1. That you may take a look at the things you are NOT DOING & explore if fear of failure may be what’s stopping you.
  2. Realize that even when we do fail – we succeed!

“There is no such thing as failure ONLY learning!”

Let me know in the comment box what you may have been avoiding because of the fear of failure.
