Esperanza Hope To Cope: Why Calories Still Count!

by Carol L. Rickard

One of the things I’ve struggled with as I’ve gotten older is my weight.

It used to be I could eat whatever I wanted as long as I was going to the gym every day to exercise it off.

Well, that seemed to come to a crashing stop once I hit my fifties!

What really made the problem worse a couple of years ago was, I bought 3 new pairs of pants and they had some elastic in the waistband.

Next thing you know…

I can’t fit in to my other clothes!

So, this spring I’ve been making a conscious effort to lose the weight using the principles in my book, “Putting Your Weight Loss on Auto”.

The first one I want to share with you today is the MOST important one:

Why calories still count!

What do you think would happen if you went to the gas station and started pumping 15 gallons of gasoline in to your car and it only has a 10-gallon tank?

It wouldn’t work out so well!!! Right? You’d end of with a lot of extra gas spilling all over the place… A MESS.

Well, this same principle applies to us human beings!

Our “tanks” can ONLY hold so much fuel too!

The difference is that instead of our extra fuel spilling out all over the place – it stays in and we make SPARE TANKS!

For men, it seems you tend to have just one SPARE TANK – the stomach.

For women, it seems we tend to have several SPARE TANKS: the hips, the rear end, the stomach, the legs, the back….

The biggest mistake people make when they start to store the extra fuel in their SPARE TANKS…

Go buy a bigger tank!

When the clothes start to not fit – the worst thing to do is go buy the next size up. Why?

Because, when you have a BIGGER TANK – you’re most certainly going to fill it up!

How many different sizes of clothes do you have?!

So, here’s what you can do to put this principle in to action:

  1. Start paying attention to HOW MUCH gas you are putting in your tank!
  2. DO NOT go buy a bigger tank!

Let me know in the comment box what your thoughts & experiences are.
