This is one time of year I have a tendency to gain extra pounds then have
to spend the next several months working them off!
So this year, I’ve tried something new that seems to be working & wanted
to share it with you.
Before I share this new Holiday LifeTOOL with you I must clarify something:
In my early twenties I worked as an exercise specialist at hospital based
fitness centers. I was even nationally certified as a personal trainer.
I have never been a proponent of doing what I am about to tell you I did!
So what is it I am talking about?
Get on the scale!
Starting the 2nd week in December, every morning I would hop on the scale
in my bathroom.
As I noticed the scale creeping up a pound or two, I’d pay extra attention
to my eating & exercising habits that day.
If needed, I would even add a little extra exercise too.
Now there are a few keys to using this LifeTOOL:
- Do it right after waking up.
- Go to the bathroom first!
- Don’t have any clothes on!
- Write it down on the calendar.
The way I like to think about this – the scale becomes our “Gas Gauge”!
If the tank is already full – you don’t want to put any more gas in your tank!
In the past, I tended to go through the holiday season NOT paying any
attention to ‘how much gas I was putting in my tank’!
Which left me with more than just a couple extra pounds to lose.
Using this Holiday LifeTOOL has helped me stay more mindful!
I’ll explain in next week’s post why I don’t like using the scale outside of
this holiday time period.
PS. If you have a strategy that’s helped you keep off the holiday pounds –
please share it in the comment section below!
