I had the privilege of doing some stress management workshops for the teachers at Montgomery School District last week.
I was part of their Wellness Day!
After each session, I had a teacher come up to me and share one of the “tools” they’d learned a long time ago.
These were so GREAT I had to share them with you!!!!
Tool #1 – Letting Go
This first one came from the head of maintenance department. He said he’d learned it from Carlos Santana at a concert a few decades ago as a way to let go of things.
Step 1 – Pretend to gather it in your hands in a cupping motion (like making a snowball!)
Step 2 – Put your hands up to your mouth.
Step 3 – Open your hands and BLOW! (Blow away all the things you CAN’T control!!!!)
Use anytime you need to LET GO of something!
Tool #2 – Diffusing an Argument
Use this one when you find yourself in a discussion or an argument -it’s a quick way to end it!
You simply say the following:
“You might be right.”
That’s it! She says it has worked for her every single time!
Tool #3 – Conquering a Challenge
This tool touched my heart the most!
I’d talked in my training how a visual image is so much more powerful than just a thought. Here’s what the teacher said to me on her way out:
“When I found out I had cancer – I imagined myself putting on my helmet ready to do battle & win the war. And I did!”
Step 1- Pick an image which will strengthen and empower you in the challenge you are facing.
Step 2 – As often as possible during your day, close your eyes and visualize this image!
Step 3 – When your brain starts to worry about the challenge (& it will!) – change your focus to this image instead!
Let me know in the comment box below which one you’ll try!
