Habits can help you in achieving wellness, and there’s one tool that can help you build those healthy habits—a checklist!
By Carol Rickard
Today, I want to provide an update!
My hope is to show & inspire YOU to start making a change in one of your health habits, bringing you one step closer to wellness.
That LifeTOOL was:
Just to remind you…the new habit I was trying to start was taking my blood pressure every day. I’d had the machine for 2 weeks & NOT used it!
So how’d I do?
Well, I can’t show you the first month’s chart because my doctor kept it!
Here is this month’s:
The thing I want you to notice is there area a couple days where I missed…
I’m not perfect!
This is NOT about getting it perfect. Instead, it is a tool to help us BUILD a new habit!
Besides helping us START a new habit—this LifeTOOL has another important benefit…
It helped us determine whether or not the medication was working! The 1st medication didn’t work & the 2nd medication at the small dose didn’t work either.
If you look closely, you’ll see how it finally stabilized AFTER we increased the 2nd medication!
This LifeTOOL can also be very helpful in trying to find a medication to HELP when it comes to anxiety or depression. Here’s how to use it for that:
Print out the checklist by clicking here!
Using a scale of 1-10 (1 = a little, 10 = a lot), at the end of the day write down the highest level of anxiety or depression for that day. Make a note of events: Example: a change in dose or a stressor.
Take this checklist to your next appointment and share it! Now, instead of just saying things, we actually have a picture that captures our experience.
What new health habits are you working on? Post them in the comments section below!
