I was listening to NPR as I was driving this weekend and heard a very
powerful LifeTOOL I felt I needed to share here with you.
They were talking to a veteran whose vehicle was hit by a roadside bomb
the day before he was to leave & come home.
Not only did he lose his leg and experience a traumatic brain injury, he lost
his best friend in the attack.
He shared about how difficult the road to recovery was for him, how he
really struggled with his mental health and with…
“WHY ME?”…
‘Why did I live and my friend didn’t?’ ‘Why did this have to happen?’
He went on to share about when he got involved in this song-writing project
he started to ask himself a different question:
“NOW WHAT?”
Wow! That really caught my attention…
I hope it catches your attention too!
Read this again:
“NOW WHAT?”
It has the power to instantly change our lives because no longer are
we left powerless by the things in our lives we can’t control.
Maybe you or someone you know has been struggling with the same question:
WHY ME?
‘WHY cant I just be like everyone else?’
‘WHY do I have this and no one else in my family does?’
‘WHY can’t I just be normal?’
The only thing more damaging to our health and wellness than WHY ME is
doing it and not even realize you’re doing it.
Don’t let WHY ME…hold you stuck!
Start changing your words and your focus with this amazingly simple, yet
very powerful LifeTOOL:
NOW WHAT?
To use this LifeTOOL, here’s what you can do:
- Write down on a piece of paper a list of all your WHY ME’s. Leave
plenty of space between them. - Now go through it again, crossing off each WHY ME and directly
underneath each WHY ME – write down a NOW WHAT instead! - For extra power, transfer the NOW WHAT‘s to an index card and
carry them with you!!!
I hope this has had the same impact for you that it had for me – definitely
an Ah-Ha moment!!!
