Advocacy
Joining our voice

Mental health discrimination presents an immediate need to collectively
advocate for equitable and humane adjustments for those who attempt
to courageously shine on, beyond the daily struggle.
Sometimes the business community or neighborhoods need a better
understanding of our plight. Sometimes a school or government agency
needs to hear from us.
We hold workshops throughout the year, to train people like you to effectively communicate to those
who can affect change. When laws and ordinances for funding are being considered, we encourage
NAMI membership to express their concerns to their legislators and leaders.

In Our Own VoiceNo one knows the challenges of mental illness in the way that it's sufferers do. In Our Own Voice assists those who are in stable recovery from mental illness to learn to tell our (to groups like churches, police etc.) of overcoming the difficulties that still try to push us back into the shadows.
